There is only one official entrance into the Dreamer's Oshkosh Council Complex, and that's by the bridge over the Fox River. In order to gain access to the valuable information and inventions within its walls, visitors must pass a security check on the way in and on the way out of the Dreamer's Oshkosh headquarters.
The two buildings predate the Event, but have since been reinforced for security purposes. In addition to a steam-powered draw bridge, the space between the two story guard tower and single story security office has been blocked by a mechanically powered wall. The guard tower has personnel posted round the clock, and the bridge is up from dusk til dawn, unless otherwise ordered.
The bridge access is also mounted with dynamite as a defensed against land-assault from that direction. There are always 3 guards on duty, though more are posted during peak times and at night there are an unknown number sleeping in the base of the towed, in a room hollowed out into the bridge support. The guards pace in shifts from 6th Avenue to the South back to the Guard Tower. Each is equipped with a road flare. In the case of night attack, the flare will be set off to warn the land-based security on the opposite side of the retracted bridge.
The Guard Tower would benefit from a Steam Cannon, however, no one has gotten around to it, yet.
